To start off our fundraising campaign students walked around the local area to fundraise money as sponsorship for Pieta house Darkness Into Light walk on the 11th May 2019. The generosity of our staff students and residents in the local area turned out to be a huge success as the students went door to door spreading the word of the wonderful work Pieta House does. The goal per student was €25, with many students exceeding this quota we were astonished by the generosity of our local community and the copious amounts of admiration people had for pieta house. We separated into groups and students visited the different parts of our surrounding area. Not only did our students raise money but they got to learn about Pieta house and the importance that the charity is to people of all ages.
In the upcoming weeks four of our staff/students have volunteered to do a sponsored SKYDIVE. They have called on friends, family and people in their local communities to support them as they take this huge leap, quite literally. The idea came about when students discussed the huge impact that Pieta House has as they help people who are struggling greatly to get back on their feet and to let people know that taking a leap towards your future is the most beneficial thing you can do and that people will have support through this time. The skydive signifies life and the hope pieta house give people to land on their feet as they have a guide to help.
So far we have raised over €1400 which totally exceeded our expectations as we are a small school and rely not only on the generosity of parents and staff but the people of our community.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who was helped us throughout our fundraising campaign and Pieta House for all the work and support they put in to helping everyone. #progress4pieta #dellawellbeing
