One of the most exciting opportunities I had in Ardscoil Las Salle was to take part of the Della Voices.
Music has always been one of my greatest passions and I was hoping to have the possibility here in Ireland and in my new school to share this passion with other people. For this reason, I decided to take part to the meetings of the Della Voices every Tuesday during lunch-time. This was one of the best experiences I had as an international student in Ireland because I surrounded myself with friendly and talented people who have the same love for music as me. It was in this way, that every Tuesday I looked forward to going to Ms. McGovern’s room, because I really wanted to meet new people and I really liked those moments where we could chat and have fun singing together. I felt at home.
However, the meetings of the Della Voices weren’t just to have fun. We transformed this into something more meaningful and more important. We used our voices and our time for charity and for helping other people. This was something I have never done before. We used those meetings to prepare ourselves for carolling during Christmas time. We went carolling twice: once in Donaghmede Shopping Centre and one in St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre.
In total we raised €351 for St. Francis Hospice and €323 for Make a Wish. We were all really enthusiastic about singing to raise money for such good causes! The success we had with carolling wasn’t just an achievement for the school or for the Della Voices, but for every one of us. We were all happy to know that with our singing we helped children and kids who are less fortunate in life than we are.
I know that next year I will have to say goodbye to the Della Voices, but I really hope that new people will take part of it and that they will live and enjoy this experience as I did. Being part of the Della Voices will be unforgettable for me and this experience will always remain in the memory of my heart.
