3rd year students from Ardscoil La Salle were welcomed into Trinity College Dublin on the 13th of March as part of College for Every Student Programme (CFES).
Our host Gary Gannon, a member of the Trinity Access Programme (TAP) staff, facilitated a tutorial style Q&A about the advantages of further education while telling us about his decision to return to education through the Trinity Access route. After discussing different course options and getting used to some of the terminology we had an extensive campus tour including peeks into the Samuel Becket theatre and engineering labs followed by a delicious lunch in the wood panelled dining hall of the Buttery.
The highlight of the day was being able to share in the joyous Holi Festival with the Trinity Indian Society. This carnival of colours is a traditional Hindu festival, celebrating the beginning of spring as well as the triumph of good over evil. It is best known around the world for the powder that revellers throw on each other, leaving festival goers coated in colour by the end of the day.
